This video tutorial shows how to create code families. Code families are groupings of codes according to shared characteristics. While primary document families are groupings of sources of information, code families refers to groupings of concepts. Code families are created according to analysis needs. Thus, if you need to focus your attention on all of the services provided by health clinics, you will create a code family for services which will include all the codes that have to do with that concept. Additionally, if you want to compare something like what was said about transportation as a barrier to access services, versus what was said about economics as a barrier, then you will create a code family for each of these concepts. Then, using filters, you will be able to examine and compare, both qualitatively and quantitatively, what was said about both types of barriers to access services.
