After almost 13 years of flirting with the idea, it's finally time for a trans-Atlantic joint-venture between British Airways (PINK:BAIRY) and American Airlines (NYSE:AMR) to commence, according to comments by the UK-based airline's vice president for the Americas. Next month the two will merge their frequent flier programs, and line up schedules and add destinations on both sides next year. The alliance will control half of the US flights to Heathrow. Spanish airline Iberia Lineas Aereas de Espana SA, which is due to complete its merger with British Airways by year's end, will also be part of the joint venture and will contribute an estimated 10% of the JV's $7 billion in revenues. SmarTrend alerted subscribers to take profits in AMR on June 29, 2010 at $6.88, since then the stock fell 10.5%. We are now watching for any positive developments that could result in a new uptrend signal.
